Stefan Schneiderbauer PhD is a senior researcher of the EURAC's Institute for Applied Remote Sensing specialised in the analysis of environmental and societal risks and vulnerabilities and the deployment of satellite images and additional spatial data for respective assessments. He studied Geography in Cologne (Germany) and Louvain‐La‐Neuve (Belgium) and obtained his PhD from the department for geosciences of the Free University Berlin (Germany) in 2007. His dissertation addressed the estimation of populations' risks and vulnerabilities to natural hazards at various spatial scales. Work experience covers lecturing at the University for Applied Science in Berlin, freelance training, facilitating and consulting, as well as carrying out research at the European Commission's Joint Research Centre.
