The Regional Initiative for Hydrological Monitoring of Andean Ecosystems (iMHEA)

The Regional Initiative for Hydrological Monitoring of Andean Ecosystems (iMHEA) is a network of organizations that aims to increase and strengthen knowledge on the hydrology of Andean ecosystems to improve decision-making regarding the management of water resources and ecosystem services at the Andean regional level. The iMHEA began in 2010 with the organization of a first workshop of institutions interested in or carrying out water resources monitoring at the local level to improve the management of Andean basins for sustainable development.

To achieve its main objective, iMHEA aims to generate and manage information with common standards, promote interaction between multiple stakeholders interested in the hydrology of Andean ecosystems, strengthen the technical capacities of local stakeholders, and disseminate and make accessible to all stakeholders the knowledge generated.
