Regional Dialogues on Integrated High Mountain Management: Knowledge Building

Join on September (09/16), October (10/21) and November (11/18) to talk about the latest and most innovative experiences in the management of high-altitude ecosystems, as an appetizer for the celebration of the International Mountain Day in December 2021.

These events are organized by CONDESAN, the Humboldt Institute and UNEP, with the support of the European Union, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC | COSUDE), and Helvetas. Find out more about these Regional Dialogues here.

Knowledge Building

This Thursday, September 16, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am (Quito, Ecuador time, GMT-5) we will broadcast the first dialogue in which we will be sharing key Andean and global experiences on the importance of building knowledge for decision making processes.

Under the moderation of Manuel Peralvo from CONDESAN, we will be listening to:

  • Dr. Purnamita Dasgupta from ICIMOD: Knowledge-building and management for decision making in ICIMOD-Himalaya.
  • Dr. Francisco Román from CONDESAN: The use of HIRO tool to guide public investments for risk management and water security in Peru.
  • Mag. Jorge Adrián Castaño from SIÉ Ingeniería: Advances in the Integrated Monitoring Strategy of High Mountain Ecosystems in Colombia.
  • Dr. Martín Leyva from INAIGEM-Peru: Knowledge management in high mountain ecosystems.
  • Dr. Francisco Cuesta from RED GLORIA-Andes: The use of monitoring networks to establish regional patterns of response of ecosystems to climate change.
